Regardless, Master Shakespeare "thy eternal summer shall not fade."
446 years ago William Shakespeare was born. While some say Shakespeare's appeal is universal, clearly, it does not extend to cats - at least this cat.

So I was driving home the other day and hit the scan button. Instead of going to the usual next station down, the radio stopped on a local high school station. Most of the time it goes right past this station - I guess the signal is too weak under most conditions. However, this day it stopped on that high school station and "Sea Within a Sea" was playing. Fate was smiling on me. At the next stop sign I pulled out my iPhone and shazammed the song (luckily it's a long one). The song is very cool. In it, you can hear Bauhaus, Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen...So what's not to like. Enjoy! Last night we saw Girl in a Coma at the Pike Room in Pontiac. As with their previous shows, it was awesome. The Girls joked around between songs and were their usual fierce selves. They were opening for The Wedding Present who are, apparently, an 80s New Wave band. The crowd was mixed - some were there for GIAC, and some were there for The Wedding Present. Those there to see The Wedding Present were the ones talking loudly during the love song "El Monte." Have I mentioned that the Pike Room is this nice intimate venue? If dirty looks could kill... The highlight of the show for me was their cover of Pasty Cline's "Walkn' After Midnight." It blew me away. It preserved the essence of the original, but it was Girl in a Coma at the same time. After the show, they were very generous with their time - as they've been before. We talked tattoos for a while before we had to leave. Next time they come to Michigan, I am totally calling in sick. No more of this leaving early. If you've never been to a GIAC show, seek one out. You won't be disappointed. p.s. Sorry about the horrible photo. It was taken with my phone from the back. |
